Holiday Photos..

There's still time...

I Love the holiday cheer...I love spending time with family and little girls in cute dresses.  My kids are growing up so fast and I cherish the moments I can have them in front of the camera. Since I am the photographer we don't always get around to it. I'm hoping I can get one done soon.  My oldest son does not live at home, so lets just say we can't always coordinate to have a nice family portrait done. I'm hopeful though.

In the mean time I'll have to be satisfied with doing holiday photos for eveyone else.  Check out this little cutie.

wouldn't you love to get a christmas card with this cute little face on it ;)

Autumn 2012

My Favorite Time of Year

I Love autumn. I love it for the leaves, the colors and so many other things. I get to turn the fireplace on, wear fuzzy socks and hoodies. I get to enjoy all the changes day by day as I walk my son to and from school.

Life is full of complications, but if you take a moment to enjoy the little things in life you will enjoy it more.  A friend of mine once asked me, when I posted the beautiful leaves, "you know they are dying right?" My answer was simple "Yes it's part of the circle of LIFE"  ;)

I leaf* you today, with this Photo and this quote...

Someday everything will all make perfect sense. But for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason. Even if you don't understand it now. ~ unknown

Happy Wednesday!!

The World of Glamour

I absolutely LOVE anything glamorous.  I Love Fashion and Makeup. I moonlight as a Mary Kay beauty consultant....Mostly because I Love the Product and I am my own best customer, but also because I like to keep up with all the latest trends and colors.

I learned that I could combine the two and do before and after type shoots...These have become my favorites...you might remember a previous post..The Makeovers.  Oh but then I was introduced to the world of Sue Bryce and can I just say that I am still in AWE of her work and could only dream of having a Photoshoot myself with her. Yes folks,  I Love having my picture taken as much as like taking them ;)

Well... this past week I had the opportunity to do a Super Glamorous Shoot.  This young lady is Stunning.  Although I am not sure she knows exactly how stunning she is. I was so happy when she told me the next day that she couldn't wipe the smile from her face.  I can't change the world or how women see themselves. However, If I can give every woman that comes for a glamour shoot a little confidence boost and make her feel great about herself, I have done my job. And that makes ME happy.

Here's her before and after shot. She gets all the credit I just helped with a little bit of eyeshadow. I'd say she does a pretty fabulous Job of glamming herself up.

Be Strong and Confident but above all be YOURSELF....

Happy Tuesday!!

Time Flies and Things Change

Wow... This was one of the first images I took with my New DSLR when I started studying Photography at CDIA BU.  When I look back, I can't believe how things change with time. You see this is My Little Big Girl.  Well, she's not so little anymore, actually she is way taller than me now.  I Love her to pieces but then, If you follow my blog at all you know how much my own children make thier apperances.  It's a mother's love =) I just can't help myself.

Anyway, back to the photographs. I love going back into the multiple hard drives that I have and find older photographs that I can now make look way better with everything I've learned.  Remember I hadn't even begun my studies and this was the very first project. We had to get as many faces as possible.  I am posting the original Raw image. (really bad I know-.-) The purpose is so you can see what I have done with the image. Yes it's the same exact image in Raw. I have just worked on it and have applied different treatments to it. I am very happy with the results all of them ;)

This is SOC and very badly exposed, I know ;) But, Hey! Cut me some slack I was a newbie ;)

This has my Glamour Color treatment applied to it in Photoshop.

I love creamy warm tones, so this has an aged, faded Photo effect.

Black & White. I Love the Black & White because when I look at the image, my eye goes directly to the most important part of the image. In this case, as the project stated, her FACE.

By the way, this is while we were at the doctors office. She wasn't too happy about it. These were the days when I refused to put my camera down, It was attached to me ;)  So yes, I photographed my child while we waited for the Doc ;)

Happy Wednesday!!

Edge....

During this summer my son spent a few days with me.. It doesn't happen very often. He's a City Boy, and refers to my house in the suburbs as The Cave.  He wanted some images that would represent his style.  I hope I did well enough for his liking. I say this, not because I am not sure of my work but because he likes very edgy and is sometimes hard to please ;)

So just improvising we went in search of a location with very little time. So even though he was taking "just one more phone call ma" I started shooting.  After doing a little post production, I figured out that I CAN do Edgy...

I Love My Boy Edgy and All I hope he always remembers that. =)

Creativity...

In the Photography industry there is always a class to take, And something new to learn. I'll take it as much of it as I can get. I've been catching up with Sue Bryce's Blog. So Much Inspiration there. I am a Glamour Girl. So it's not surprising that I immediately fell in Love with her work.

Many Thanks to the folks over at Creative Live for the introduction. After all the education I felt like I am not doing enough creatively.

So, here are some thoughts on why I have been unproductive.  It's been one rough year for me. I have had to endure many personal changes.  I have spent most of the summer not doing much for work, but focusing on my kids and my home. Getting ready for new things.  Trying to figure things out and Prioritze.  I had a friend tell me that no one can fault me, if My Priorities are in order ;) Thanks for that.

I'm currently trying to set something up creatively and it's not that easy to bring everything together collaboratively.  I'll keep trying, Keeping in Mind that Being a Creative Artist was my dream my whole life. I always wanted to create images like the ones I do and I am proud of my work.  The truth be told I have created some things throughout this (ahem) dry spell. I have just been holding back for some reason I haven't quite figured out yet. Blogpost to follow.....

I saw this this morning and realized it is so true. Sometimes you just see something....

I am determined to not let this dry spell mess with my creativity....So here publicly, I promise to be more creative and produce more creative work.

HAPPY MONDAY!!!

The Masks.....

I find it amazing how many masks a woman needs to wear. She has to meet the needs of her loved ones, as a Mother, Wife, Dr, Teacher and the list can go on.  It's her responsibility and she wears them with Pride.

With all the Masks there are some important things that should be present like Love, Honesty and Integrity.  These things are most important in the way the world views us. Sometimes when when we think no one is watching is when we are being scrutinized the most.

The following Quote says it best.....

Character is what we do when we think no one is looking.  ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr

Some People wear the masks differently so as to cover or hide something....But just remember that who you are when you think no one is looking IS who you really are.....

Enjoy the Image...Centerpice from a Mardi Gras themed Birthday Party.

Happy Birthday Kaylee

A Special Happy Birthday to Princess Kaylee Who Turns 1 today =)

Here's one with her Mami

Princess Kaylee is turning 1.

I can't believe it's been almost a year already.  You might remember a blog post from when she was born...You can find it HERE.

Well she's turned into quite a little precious princess. Of course taking these photos of babies is one of the biggest challenges. You sit them down and they immediately move. They want to grab your camera and cry too. You kinda have to be your silliest in order to get a good shot with a smile.  Let's just say she wasn't all smiles throughout the whole session.  However since she was in Cinderella's ball gown I had to pretend I was the Fairy Godmother and use my magic wand....and as the saying goes...

Bippitty Boppitty BOO! =)
This is the Shot we used for her Birthday Invitation...Here's a peek.
Although the images that follow didn't make the cut for the card, they were certainly worthy of this blogpost ;)

I wish her a blessed birthday in advance =)

Modeling

Some folks think Modeling is a piece of cake. Well it's NOT.  It's hard work and it can be fun. Especially when you get to go to Disney for auditions.  Creating a Modeling portfolio? Yeah that's much easier then modeling in my book ;)

I had the pleasure of creating headshots and a comp card for this little lady and it was a lot of fun.  Here are just a couple of shots from the session. I won't reveal the actual shot that will be attached to her resume but I had to share these.

Great Job Yiliana and Best of Luck to you =)

Memorial Day Weekend

I had the pleasure of going down to Cape Cod for this Memorial Day Weekend.

The sites were beautiful.  Here's a peek at what I was able to capture through my lens.

I feel truly blessed to be able to enjoy days like these with my family. I am also blessed to be able to capture images like these, where you can truly see the Glory of GOD in all of his beautiful creations around us.

Have a blessed Weekend!

Storms Bring Good Things....

I find it amazing how quickly things can Change... How God has a way of creating things, Lovely things that can happen literally over night... I can clearly see the reason for the torrential down pours now.  Today I can look at my surroundings and say the Lord had a plan.

Sometimes if we can survive the Storm there is a reward.
Even if, we get all tangled up during the Storm there is Peace at the end of it.....

Have an amazingly Blessed Day as you enjoy the images above. I feel amazingly blessed and I thank all of those people that always have My Family and I in your prayers.

Changes.....

Seasons Change, People Change...and MY WORLD is changing...

Spring is one of My favorite times of the Year... As you look around you there are so many beautiful things like this tree for example It was planted in 1977.  It only looks like this for a few weeks and then it loses it's luster. If you don't really appreciate it, you miss the beauty of it. The same goes for relationships.  Sometimes there is a small window of opportunity to find the beauty in it but if you missed that opportunity...Well then it's gone.

I'd like to apologize for the lack of blogposts, I am going through a personal change that is taking some adjusting to, but I am glad that I can still find the beauty around me. I'd Like to Thank My wonderful friends and family that are right there lending me support.  I am confident that the Lord will see me through.
May You always see the beauty that surrounds you....

Here's to Starting Anew...  May the Lord continue to bless My children and I as we adapt to the Changes. Everyday that the sun rises it's an opportunity to start Fresh.

Chubby Babies...

Don't you just love to squeeze the little rolls on those adorable chubsters =) I know I do... My kids were all chubby babies.

I had the pleasure of Photographing this soon to be one year old...

One of my hardest tasks is photgraphing babies, at this age, because they are so unpredictable. The truth is you put them in the spot where you want the photo and in a split second they move. You have to be really fast. ;)

Personally I Love seeing how the personality comes through even if it's not perfectly posed. Take a look at some of these fabulous shots.

Everytime we sat her down she wanted to crawl away ;)

This is the one We decided on...cute eh?

Baby Nia

Last Month I did a Maternity session, You can check it out here. I love Maternity sessions and I love getting excited about the baby. I really Love the relationships I build with clients along the way.

With that said.... It's my pleasure to announce that Baby Nia has arrived, born to proud parents, Javier Rivera and Stephanie Marie Cruz.

Born on Febuary 2, 2012.  She weighed in at 6lbs 2.6oz and masured 20 inches

Nialis Cristal Rivera

I was truly amazed at how much she looked like her mommy.  Oh and did I mention that I  love BABY FEET.  I have to admit though, she got REALLY mad at me when I took her socks off. She likes keeping her feet warm, but I promise that one day when she is old enough to appreciate this image, she will thank me for it.

Until then I know her parents appreciate the images and I truly enjoy creating them.

Congratulations Javier and Stephanie!! May the Lord give you the Strength and Wisdom everyday of your lives for the wonderful journey that is parenthood. GOD Bless your precious NIA <3
